Quantum Levitation

Some very clever people at Tel-Aviv university have found a way of making things hover within a magnetic field. Doesn’t sound so exciting, surely that could be done through repelling forces. Well, yes, but there’s more to this than that. Take a look at this video.

Pretty incredible, eh?

I don’t get the science behind it, and I don’t really want to delve into it, all I know is I like it.

Flying cars and hoverboards will be with us soon, I’m sure! In vaguely related news, you’ll soon be able to buy an electric-powered DeLorean. $100,000, no flux capacitor and it doesn’t fly. Hardly seems worth it to me.

An afterthought: I live in a rented house and the landlord can be funny about drilling into walls. I’ve not got my dartboard up at the moment but assuming that this can be secured in some way, this is an ideal way of hanging my dartboard up without causing damage. If someone at Tel-Aviv uni would like to get in contact to let me know how I can do this cheaply without requiring a 7 year university course or taking up much more than a couple of hours on a Saturday morning, that would be great.
